San Francisco

IMG_0850

Yesterday we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and head to San Francisco for the day.  We took a boat tour that went out and under the Golden Gate Bridge and around Alcatraz.  Even though it was a pretty rough boat ride, it was pretty cool to see San Francisco from the water.

We wanted to do the Alcatraz tour, but waited until the last minute and it was sold out for the day.  That is on the agenda for our next trip and we’ll make sure to plan ahead.

IMG_0872

After the boat tour we were hungry so we walked the pier and had some crab cakes and fish tacos.  On our way we came across this guy.

Braedon wasn’t quite sure what to think.  After lunch we shared some delicious ice cream and then walked back to the Jeep and called it a day.  Baeo was TIRED and CRANKY!!!  Despite his crankiness we still had a good time, I mean ice cream makes everything better.  At least for me anyway.

Eight months!

Little Miss Adi is 8 months old on Tuesday!

IMG_0794

I know I say this every time, but this is going by way too fast.  She is not a newborn anymore and is getting quite the personality.  She is such a happy baby and makes me laugh often.

Things she is loving these days…

Listening to daddy play the guitar

Her exersaucer

Solids, especially oatmeal!

Being anywhere her big brother is.

Playing with toys!

Being held by mommy…a lot.  I don’t mind because I know it won’t last much longer.

Milestones:

I noticed her first tooth came in 2 weeks ago.  It came as a total surprise to me because she wasn’t even all that fussy.  She had a couple of fussy days spread out here and there, but overall she is taking this teething thing like a champ!

She will now roll from front to back and back to front to try to get to toys.  It took her forever to roll over, but I also noticed that she likes to sleep on her tummy.  She would never roll over while we were playing, but she would to go to sleep.

She is starting to lift herself up when she is on the ground.  I see scooting/crawling in the very near future.

She eats about 4 times a day every 4 hours.  We just dropped the 9 pm feeding, which put her down to 4, so before that we were giving her 5 feeds a day.  She seems to have transitioned just fine, but I think she was more then ready to drop it.  I just didn’t want to give it up until I was sure she was ready.

She eats some sort of fruit in the morning, veggies at lunch and some sort of protein and more veggies at dinner.

I am still nursing her, which is huge for me since my goal for both kids was 6 months.  However, I am only nursing twice a day.  Once in the morning and once in the afternoon.  About a month ago Adi started to fight nursing and loves the bottle, so I didn’t fight it too hard.  I tried for a few days but that was just too frustrating for both of us, so I am letting her take control of when she wants to wean.

She takes two naps a day.  Her morning nap is from about 8:30 to 10:30 and her afternoon nap is from about 12:30 to 3.

She goes to bed at 6:30 and sleeps until 7.

Oh, and I can’t get enough of those big, blue eyes!!  Adi, we love you baby girl but please SLOW DOWN!  No need to grow up so fast!

We went to Disneyland!!!

IMG_0727

Friday afternoon we loaded up the Jeep and headed to my sister-in-law, Megan’s, house for a long weekend to visit and then spend a couple of days at Disneyland.  We had a wonderful time and can’t thank them enough for putting up with us!

Saturday afternoon we went to the beach.  It was a little chilly, but still fun!

The big boys surfed…

The babies had a staring contest…

and the little boys played in the sand.

IMG_0685

On Sunday I got up and ran a half marathon and then Derek and I did some kid free clothes shopping.  Thanks again, Megan!  In the afternoon we headed to Derek’s aunt and uncle’s house for a really good dinner and more visiting.

Then on Monday we went to Disneyland!!!

IMG_0696

I haven’t been to Disneyland since I was a kid and going as adult with kids brings a whole new experience.  The most fun for me was watching the smiles and giggles from my kids having a good time.

IMG_0741

Those faces remind me that I am pretty darn lucky!

Although it wasn’t all about the kids.  We did do some fun grown up rides as well.

IMG_0719

We watched the evening parade, which the kids absolutely loved!

IMG_0750

Seeing the parade made me want to come home and watch all the Disney classics!

We ended Monday with the World of Color, which is a water color show to music from Disney movies.

IMG_0782

The kids then passed out on the way home.  It was a very fun and busy day!  On Tuesday we got up and did it all over again.  Except we left the park at about 4 to head home.

It was a very fun trip indeed!!

Girlfriend loves her oatmeal

A couple of days ago I had just finished making my oatmeal and went to put Adi down for her nap.  She laid up in her crib and just screamed.  I brought her back down and turns out she knew I had oatmeal!  I fed her some of mine, and after it was gone I put her back to bed.  She went right to sleep.

This video is a different time, but these days I can’t make oatmeal, let alone eat it in front of her, without Adi letting it be known that I must share.

It was the Piston Cup

Saturday we decided to take advantage of the sunny, warm weather by going on a family hike.  We didn’t know it at the time, but according to Braedon, he was racing in the Piston Cup as Lightening McQueen.

IMG_0641

Braedon ran the whole time, probably about two miles, and even with obstacles like mud and rocks, he only had one minor crash.

IMG_0643

After we made it back to the Jeep he declared that, “The Piston Cup is over!”

IMG_0644

Post race with one scraped knee, 10 pounds of mud and a drool string.  Nice work Lightening McQueen.  Way to finish strong.

Who stole the camera?

IMG_0608

Busted!

IMG_0601

As I was going through the pictures on the camera I unexpectedly came across these.

IMG_0602

Someone stole the camera without me knowing and by the looks of it, it was sometime this morning…

IMG_0614

after breakfast.

IMG_0604

I COULD NOT…

IMG_0609

STOP

IMG_0605

LAUGHING!!!

IMG_0606

Also, someone got their lips from their daddy.

Easter 2012

It’s a day late, but HAPPY EASTER!

IMG_0585

Adi wasn’t so amused by this…but Braedon sure was.  Braedon was up first and the egg hunt began right away.  I think that is probably his most favorite thing about Easter.  That and all the candy.  That kid needs a major detox.

IMG_0574

The Easter bunny hid a ton of eggs, so Baeo was looking for them all morning.

IMG_0579

Adi woke up a little later and dug into her basket as well.

IMG_0581

She got her first baby doll!  Doesn’t she look thrilled?

IMG_0582

What a typical big brother.  I’m sorry Adi, but it will only get worse.  After a leisurely morning, we made our way to church.  Probably too leisurely because we were late.  They had a bounce house set up on the church grounds, so after the service Derek and Baeo stayed behind to play while Adi and I went down the street to Safeway because I hadn’t gone grocery shopping for the week, or for Easter dinner.  I was totally on top of things this year.  We came home and played in the back yard, had a delicious barbequed meal along with mashed potatoes and veggies, went on an after dinner walk and then got in our jammies.  It was a lovely day and a great weekend!
