Blue cheese turkey burgers

Here you go Auntie Ann!

Really good blue cheese turkey burgers:

Serves about 8

2 pounds ground turkey meat

2 1/2 ounces blue cheese crumbles

1/3 cup minced fresh chives

1/8 tsp. hot pepper sauce

3/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

3/4 tsp dried mustard

salt and pepper

In a large bowl mix all ingredients and chill for two hours or form into patties immediately if you are too hungry  like we always are!  Grill about 5 minutes on each side, serve on buns and enjoy!  These are really good!!  Derek has made these a few times now and we are always left wanting to have another.  You really don’t have to go crazy with the toppings either as these burgers are very flavorful on their own.  We usually just top them with red onion, tomatoes and a little ketchup or mustard.

On a different note.  I know I have been bad at updating the blog the last couple of weeks.  For those of you that don’t know, we have completed our trek across the country and are now safely in Seattle.  Derek starts his internship tomorrow at T-Mobile.  I will make sure I don’t slack off this summer with blogging and will get back into it now that we are finally settled again.

Braedon’s first lead climb

We have been coaching Baeo on proper technique to climb up and down things (read the couch and other furniture that he happens to be intrigued by) and it seems that he has learned quite a bit. In fact, he just completed his first lead climb only a few weeks after Auntie Musashi.

Don’t worry, he did have a spotter that was paying close attention (you should have heard Braedon calling out his climbing commands…fyi, deeedee must mean climbing).

He loved every minute of it!

Taughannock Falls

Last week we had some really nice weather here and one of the days Derek got out of class early so we decided to venture up to Taughannock Falls. The falls is a really pretty place where you can not only walk up to see the falls, which we have done a few times before, but also play in the water. Peyton loves it but I never would have guessed Braedon would love it just as much. We couldn’t keep him out of the water!

Birthday Festivities

Thursday morning Braedon got to open up his presents!  I think he was just as excited about the wrapping paper and boxes his toys came in then the actual toys themselves at first.  Now that he has had his toys for a couple of days he has been playing with them a lot and really does like them!

Every Thursday the Johnson School puts on a happy hour with drinks and appetizers called the Sage Social.  This Thursday they had a clown for Braedon’s birthday.  Luckily he wasn’t scared of it at all.

He also did his usual Thursday afternoon flirting with the college girls.

Today was his birthday party and we had a few people over to celebrate.

One year ago today

After more than 30 hours of labor, this guy was born!

Baby Braedon 053 at 8:06 am.  I will never forget this day.  This is the day when mine and Derek’s lives changed forever…in a great way.  This past year Braedon has brought us so much joy and I couldn’t imagine life without him.  I am so excited to watch him grow into the little person that he is going to become.  He already has quite the personality!

Month 1:

The first smiles and little laughs made it easier to forget about the 3 months of sleep deprivation…however, I still remember it which means baby number two won’t be happening anytime soon!

Cookie Monster

This morning after I had made Braedon’s breakfast and waited for him to finish so I could do the clean up, I started making my breakfast. I swear I had my back turned for 10 seconds and when I turned around I found this.

Picture 020 Picture 021 Picture 022 Picture 023 Picture 024 Picture 025 Picture 026

I have never seen someone try to shovel cookies in their mouth that fast! Okay, just maybe he gets this sweet tooth from his mama and I won’t deny that I might possibly have shoveled cookies that fast before. Just maybe. At first I freaked a little….he’s not even one and he’s already into chocolate cookies! This was his first taste of a chocolate cookie. Obviously the initial freak out faded fast as you can see I let him sit there shoveling cookies in his mouth while I got the camera. After I snapped a few photos of my cookie monster those cookies were thrown away. It wasn’t even 8:30 am yet!
