What watching Braedon actually entails

The other day Lacie said that it seems as though it is only when I am watching Braedon that he does his best work (read most destructive or random).  I tried to refute her statement but to little avail as she pointed out the beer bottle and marker incidents which were blogged about previously.  About 30 minutes later she left to the gym while I was finishing getting ready and this is what I came out to:

(I had to play with the pictures in a random way…just for fun)

Work it out

I have been waiting for the day when Braedon would want to work out with me.  He has been pretty interested in my weights and tries to lug them around.  When he almost dropped an 8 lb weight on his toe, Derek and I decided it was time to introduce Braedon to his very first pair of weights..that were a little lighter.

IMG_7216

We picked out these 1 pounders today and he loves them.  He spent the majority of the afternoon carrying them around wherever he went.  I now have a weightlifting buddy!

Braedon is also getting into yoga.

IMG_7210

He did some yoga with me this morning and was rubbing in the fact that he is much more flexible than me.

IMG_7214

Isn’t that the best downward dog you have ever seen?

IMG_7212

Yoga seemed to be too easy for him, so he moved on to tumbling.

I’ll give you an 8.5 for that one, Braedon.

Lights on, lights off

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! We had a very nice Thanksgiving here at home with another couple and their little girl. I have also decided that I have a love/hate relationship with Thanksgiving. I just love watching the Macy’s Parade, listening to Christmas music and the smell of turkey in the oven. I love eating all the goodness that comes with Thanksgiving dinner but I hate how full it makes you feel! I feel like a blimp as I type. But a very happy blimp. I didn’t get any pictures of Thanksgiving but I do have some random pictures that I have taken over the course of the week.

Braedon has discovered light switches. Well, Derek helped him discover them and now he wants to turn them on and off. A couple of days ago Braedon decided to push a kitchen chair down the hallway and into our bedroom to do this.

Lights on.

IMG_7194

Lights off. Over and over again.

IMG_7190

He has also been helping dad with his emails.

He now knows how to open Derek’s laptop by himself, so the minute we leave the room Braedon is very quick to get over to Derek’s computer, open it up, and beat away on the keyboard.

IMG_7200

He also knows he isn’t supposed to and when he sees that I see what he is doing, he will now shut it really quick.

Busted.

IMG_7202

Or as Braedon would say…

IMG_7201

Yeeeaaahh

One of Braedon’s favorite places to sit is here…

IMG_7186

in the kitchen on the heater. Don’t worry, that heater doesn’t turn on and Braedon would be the first to let you know if it was, “ot.”

IMG_7187

Braedon has also been loving cereal with banana for breakfast lately. Specifically Frosted Mini Wheats.

IMG_7195

He apparently thinks he is a chipmunk. He will keep shoving mini wheats until he can’t possibly get anymore in his mouth, and then he will try to shove one more.

Braedon also likes to help around the house. Last Friday, which is laundry day, he pushed all the laundry baskets from the bedrooms to the door in the living room for me.

IMG_7175

Now only if he would willingly put his blanket that he drags ALL THROUGH THE HOUSE and ends up in places that would make you cringe into the laundry basket without throwing a screaming fit.

Spin me right round

There is something about Derek’s closet that draws Braedon’s attention.  He is always getting into it and dragging stuff out.  The other day he drug out a duffle bag and it all started by seeing if he would fit in the duffle bag.  It went from that to this.

IMG_7098 IMG_7095

Derek spun him around in circles, which Braedon loves.  He will randomly just start spinning in the middle of room until he gets so dizzy he falls over.  It is actually pretty funny watching him try to walk.  It reminds me of when I used to spin my cat around when I was little and then I would put her on the floor to watch her try to walk.  Wait, did I just say that?  Kids, don’t try this at home.

IMG_7101

I think he wants another ride.  Too bad dad is too dizzy and mom would throw up if she tried.

Fun with markers

So I get home from doing laundry on Friday and the first thing Derek said to me was, “look at the camera.” Oh no, last time I came home and he said that Braedon was having a field day with empty beer bottles. What did he get into this time?

IMG_7126

Markers. That would be our bedroom floor. Now these aren’t just any markers, these are fabric markers. I don’t know if he colored all over his new clothes before or after he decided to practice his skills on the floor. Derek was able to to get the marker off the floor just fine, but Braedon’s clothes no longer look new.

Does this look like the face of trouble or what?

IMG_7127

We sure do love him though!

Weekend wrap up

The last few days have been very nice here in Ithaca with pretty warm temperatures considering the time of year.  Although there won’t be much that I will miss about living in Ithaca as far as what Ithaca has to offer, I will miss the fall here.  They are so pretty and the weather isn’t too bad either.

IMG_7163

We spent some time playing at a couple different parks.

baeoinpark

We spent some time up on campus just walking around and exploring.

IMG_7129 IMG_7131

Braedon just loves being outside!

We walked around Cornell’s oldest library, which is pretty cool.

IMG_7159 IMG_7153

Do you see everyone looking at Braedon?  Yes, the library is still used and people do actually study there…and no, Braedon does not have an indoor voice.

Some more walking on campus.

IMG_7162 IMG_7160

The weekend can’t be all fun and games.  Braedon and Derek spent some time catching up on emails Sunday night.

Another great weekend spent with my boys.

Movember (Updated)

For those that weren’t aware, Movember takes place during the month of November and is a moustache growing charity event that raises funds and awareness towards men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. The rules state that you start clean shaven on November 1 and then you don’t shave until December 1. Cornell is actually having a moustache contest at the end of the month. This year Derek has decided to take part in this event. I’m happy that he is doing it as it is for a good cause, but on the other hand I am anxiously waiting for the month to be over. Why, might you ask?

IMG_7148

Ewww.

IMG_7147

This is what he looked like when he came out of the bathroom this morning. Today was the first day that he actually shaved his growing beard into a moustache, if that’s what you want to call what he has on his face. I said, no way dude and told him to go back to the bathroom.

Second attempt.

IMG_7149

Oh hell no.

IMG_7150

Once again he was sent to the bathroom and returned looking pretty similar, except he shaved the horizontal lines that line his jaw bone. I can’t look at him with a straight face.

He better raise a butt load of money.

To donate to the cause (it is funneled to a couple of organizations like The LiveStrong Foundation) go to: http://us.movember.com/mospace/816988/

Pull ups

Braedon’s new thing that he loves to do is pull ups.  He will point to the pull up bar and make his little grunting sound that he makes when he wants something.

IMG_7111  IMG_7112 IMG_7113 IMG_7114

He’s been putting those new muscles to use already.

Beer tasting

This is what happens when Derek is in the shower and I am at the gym.

IMG_7103

Braedon decided he was going to have a solo beer tasting that consisted of pumpkin beer, pumpkin beer, pumpkin beer, and more pumpkin beer.

IMG_7102

If we forget to lock the patio door, Braedon will open it and help himself into our recycling.  He must have brought one empty bottle in at a time and then decided to line them up on the coffee table.

18 month stats

Braedon turned 18 months on the 6th and yesterday was his 18th month check up. I think this is the first time I have posted his stats since he was born, and I wish I had done this every few months or so. If you haven’t already noticed, this blog has kind of turned into an electronic journal for Baeo. Anyway, here are his stats:

Weight: 25 pounds

Height: 33 1/3 inches

He has about 10 teeth now and they have all started coming in at once. This makes for a very cranky toddler at times and I feel so bad. Although sucking on ice seems to numb the pain. He will suck down ice cubes until they are gone.

IMG_7093

He is only saying three words so far which consist of hot, daddy, and mommy. Other than that he still just makes the squeaky “yah” sound to everything. The doctor isn’t worried though because boys are usually a little behind when it comes to talking.

He has also started to hide behind and under things when he is going to the bathroom. The doctor said that is a good sign and I can even start putting him on the toilet. We’ll see!

IMG_7008

Uh Braedon, what are you doing? He’s embarrassed…I don’t think he realizes we can smell him after he has done it though because once he comes out of hiding he goes right back to what he was doing. Sorry Braedon but you can’t sneak that one by us.

Museum of play

Yesterday we decided to drive two hours up to Rochester and visit the Imagine Children’s Museum of Play. That is an awesome place! It had all kinds of things to interact and play with. We spent a good three hours there and Braedon loved every second of it.

The minute we walked in the door the big aquariums caught his eye. (This is one of the smaller acquariums that also captured his attention.)

IMG_7028

We could have probably walked off and he wouldn’t even have noticed. He was very into watching the fish. Maybe the YMCA daycare should get an aquarium…

Oh man…the thought of triplets…

IMG_7033

Braedon went from racing little cars to racing the big ones.

IMG_7034 IMG_7036

He doesn’t mess around folks. That driving thing is serious stuff.

We walked around Sesame Street…

IMG_7040

Braedon tried to sell us hotdogs and hamburgers. (And tried to eat one of the hotdogs that are made of rubber.)

IMG_7041

Then he went shopping at Wegmans.

IMG_7050

That’s my boy…he went right for the veggies. (At one point he had 5 bananas, 1 head of cabbage and 1 lettuce, 1 lime, 1 tomato, and 1 orange)

IMG_7051

IMG_7052

Mmmmm bread! (He also liked the bread as he picked up 5 loafs.)

IMG_7055

Then he decided to take a walk through the newscast station while the weather girl was doing her thing.

IMG_7056

After we were done shopping Braedon and dad went on a little train ride.

IMG_7059 IMG_7062

After flying a plane…

IMG_7063

it was time for a much needed break.

IMG_7064

Then it was time to do some more flying

IMG_7069

and riding

IMG_7075

and digging.

IMG_7071

Man, I was exhausted. Braedon wasn’t too tired to show a little affection though.

IMG_7077

The Bernstein Bears!!

IMG_7081

I loved them when I was younger. I think Braedon had a liking to them as well. After he was done making out with Sister bear we moved on.

IMG_7080

and did some sliding.

IMG_7083

After the Bernstein Bears we had pretty much done it all (including sanitizing our hands every 5 minutes because his hands kept going into his mouth due to some new teeth coming in) and decided we were tired and ready to head home. Not before stopping at Chipotle though. Oh Chipotle, we have missed you!

chipotle

Oh, I probably shared half of what he did there! So much stuff to do!!
