Like father like son

I don’t know what it is with electronics and babies, but Braedon is always after our phones, laptops, the printer and any other expensive equipment that he can get his sticky, little hands on.  A few weeks back I saw this cute little play laptop at the store and decided to buy it for him so that he could have a laptop of his own.  At first he would just slam it shut every time I tried to open it and show him how to play with it.  He has gotten better at playing with it and will now keep it open for more than 10 seconds at a time but if you ask him, it still isn’t as cool as mom and dad’s laptops.

Here are my two boys working away on their computers.

The other morning Derek got Braedon dressed for the day and they came out like this.

Awww…isn’t that cute?  They match!  haha.

Live Writer is fabulous!

Lacie made the comment today that “making blog posts is much easier with Windows Live Writer” which sounded like a commercial so I thought that I would tell everyone about the great product that has made our posting much easier (especially for our friends Kyle & Brianne) because you create an entire post before uploading.  It is free to download and simple to use.

Evening of fun

Adventures of the letter “M” (that is the letter in his mouth).  Braedon loves to put things in his mouth as he goes on his little journeys.

Here is my beautiful wife!  Notice the two bottles of wine?  Don’t worry, one is for cooking and one is for indulging.  What you don’t see are the delicious cheeses that we were enjoying.

I cooked and wanted to use up all of the turkey meat so I made three turkey burgers (turkey, BBQ sauce, bread crumbs, egg white, chili powder, onion, salt, and pepper) in the daddy bear, mommy bear, and baby bear sizes.  Daddy bear = 3/5 lb, mommy bear = 3/10 lb, baby bear = 1/10 lb.  Needless to say, we all had more than necessary but they were delicious and paired beautifully with the roasted veggies that Lace prepared.  Here is the mommy bear portion.

Braedon followed up his burger with a bear wrestling match.  My little champion won but the bear put up a vicious fight.

Remember the old Calvin and Hobbes cartoons that showed the random routes that Calvin took?  Braedon does the same thing which often times includes crawling under things that he usually barely fits through (if your leg is in the way then he will insist that it moves).

I have a great family!  (Notice that Peyton is following him?  I won’t go into the details but he smelled like food and she had to check him out.)

Sunday afternoon drive

There is a cluster of random little houses that always make me wonder about:

  1. Why people would build such little old school houses
  2. Why cluster the mini houses like it is a camping site
  3. Who chooses the paint schemes

This is the view from a Jeep Commander and let me tell you, we were definitely in command!

Look at this beautiful stream.

IMG_5638

Notice that it is going directly under Lacie’s butt? Yeah, that was a stream crossing and both Lacie and Braedon loved it.

Lacie asked me if I was going to drive across this little crossing…why wouldn’t I, I am driving a Jeep! (Notice that the front right tire is off of the ground.)

We all loved it!

Kyle & Brianne, we are training Braedon about what a Sunday afternoon drive entails so that he will be able to take Haylee out on a true date some day. Lacie made the comment that he will be dating soon to which I pointed out that she will be 40 when he starts dating at 16 and for some reason he is no longer close to dating age.

Great little drive though and it is a good thing that our Jeep has a locking rear differential or else we wouldn’t have made it through that drop (I tried it without too).

Fun with grandma and grandpa

After Braedon’s shyness wore off and he warmed up to grandma and grandpa, he ended up having a lot of fun with them both.  He played the piano with grandma as well as doing a bunch of other fun little stuff around the house with her.

Side note: I just want to thank my mom for helping me out SO MUCH while we are there!  It  really is a nice break for me to have extra help.

He also got some playtime with grandpa and loves this little game they play.

Slides and swings

While we were back in Seattle the weather was nice the whole time and Baedon got the chance to spend some time outdoors. Just so that you know, New York is pretty cold in the winter, and so we haven’t spent extended amounts of time outside for Braedon to explore. I’m happy to say that he loves being outside breathing the fresh air, picking the heads off of dandelions, as well as occasionally eating grass.

We also took him to the park for the first time so he could finally experience the fun of swings. He absolutely loved it! Every time I tried to get a picture it was bad timing and I could never get his smiling face, but trust me, there were tons of smiles and giggles!

Three little cousins

We spent Friday at my sister in law Megan’s house to see her and Derek’s parents as well.  It was a beautiful day and we had a nice visit.  She made a great dinner of homemade spaghetti and meatballs along with homemade bread.  My was it tasty!  Thanks again Megan for the wonderful dinner and haircuts!

I thought these pictures of Liam, Braedon, and Aiden were way too cute!

More pictures and recaps of our trip back home to come.

My little…helper?

This afternoon I thought I should probably start getting clothes together and start packing for our trip tomorrow. I got pretty much all of Braedon’s clothes together so I moved into my room to start on my stuff. I put Braedon on the bed to let him “help” me with my clothes. It turned into this in about .2 seconds.

Picture 003 Picture 004 Picture 005 Picture 006 Picture 008 Picture 007 Picture 001 He pretty much had my pile of clothes unfolded and thrown all over in a matter of seconds and there was no trying to refold and pile them with him on the bed. He is way too quick and the minute I got them refolded he would pick them up and throw them again. We could have repeated that cycle all evening. Oh, and do you see that pair of clothing sitting on the brown heater in the background? Yeah, that is a pair of my underwear and was one of the first articles to go flying by Mr. Baeo.
