Really!?

So I got woken up last night by Derek’s hand smacking me in the back and him flailing up in bed and just sitting there.  Now this isn’t anything new with Derek as he has been known to talk in sleep and do other weird things on numerous occasions.  I knew he was dreaming but I thought I would ask anyway….

Me: Ummm, what are you doing?

Derek:  I’m calculating business expenses!

Me: Oh, okay….you should lay back down.

As I thought about it a little bit more, I couldn’t help but laugh, even in my groggy, sleep deprived state.  I thought maybe he would say he was fighting off gang members or doing some of this:

Which by the way is still pretty insane!

Nope, my man was doing accounting calculations.  Hmmm…maybe if accounting excited me as much as it does Derek I wouldn’t have ended up taking it twice in college…

Our little cuddle bug

Braedon absolutely loves to cuddle with anything that looks soft and cuddly.  He will just burrow his head in and lay back.  He has found my parents’ big labs to be especially cuddly and lucky for him they don’t mind.  Well, they put up with it at least…who knows what is really going through their minds!

I think he is going to miss his furry friends when we leave.

Braedon making a break for it

We’re in trouble now!

Happy Father’s Day Derek

printbaeo4

On my wedding day I knew I was the luckiest girl in the world to be marrying just a fine man.  Thanks Kent and Debbie for raising such a good one!  However, I didn’t know at that time that there would be people on this planet that were even luckier…his kids.  Derek is an incredible father and has been from day 1.  He is hands on, loving, nurturing and only wants the best for his little Baeo and it definitely shows.  I could just sit back and watch those two interact all day long!

Left..left…left, right, left…

As I have mentioned before, Braedon has started walking and continues to get better and faster each day.  I would say that he now walks the majority of the time and is loving every minute of it!

Dilema

What do you do when you have just sat down with a delicious dessert only to find your cute little guy stumbling his way over to your lap and ever so politely signing the word please? I mean, how can you say no to that? Even when you NEVER EVER share dessert because it is the BEST meal of the day? Yes, I consider dessert 4th meal.

Solution: Praise him for saying please and give the guy a bite but then occupy him with a graham cracker and try to finish your dessert before he asks for another bite! Is that mean?

Milestones

This last week has been filled with lots of milestones for our little Baeo. I can’t believe how much he is learning and understanding now that he has turned one.

Things Braedon has started doing just this week:

1. Walking! He is all over the house now and walks just as much, if not a little more, as he crawls.

2. He will sign milk please and finished ( I use finished for when he is done eating). Whenever we have something to eat that Braedon wants he will come at you and squeal pretty much saying, “I want some.” That behavior was not cool with me so whenever he does that I will say, “Braedon how do we ask?” He will then sign please.

3. He knows how to go down the stairs without falling. We don’t have stairs at our house in Ithaca and my parents have quite a few so I was hoping he would figure this one out quickly. He only took a couple spills down about 3 stairs before he realized that he must go down backwards every time.

4. When you ask for a hug he will give you one! I think he sometimes confuses hug with kiss though because when I asked for a hug yesterday he came at my face with his mouth open! It was actually pretty cute.

5. He has taken after his cousin Ryker and has started climbing up on chairs.

6. He has also decided this week that he only needs one nap a day. I don’t really like this change because I still need him to need two naps a day!

7. Oh, and he has also learned how to flush the toilet. If we forget to shut the bathroom door and you can’t find Braedon, just listen for the flush.

It's called Insanity for a reason

Lacie was reading about a killer workout on personal trainer blogs that she decided would be her main workout this summer. The workout is called Insanity which hurts just to read. I for some reason decided that I wanted to work off those 10 pounds that I gained in my first year of b-school and said that I might work out with her...but she heard "I am GOING to work out with you" which is quite different. But in for a penny, in for a pound so I decided to accept her interpretation and commit to a summer. My goal is to lose the 10 pounds from school plus an additional 10 pounds for good measure.

After a frustrating experience trying to order the videos through resellers on Amazon we finally got it on our third try (I have had great experiences with resellers until this time). I received a text from Lacie on Monday saying that it finally came and that we would do the fitness test that evening. The fitness test was a solid workout and we were both dripping sweat! We have now done two days of workouts and it is definitely a killer. Turns out that when personal trainers are talking about a workout that is kicking their butts, it will most certainly kick the butt of someone that hasn't been working out at all (Lacie had to take a couple of breaks today because it was so challenging).

What did I get myself in to?!?

Wallace Falls

Today we took our first hike of the year even though it was raining.  Grandma and Grandpa Wilson got Braedon and Derek a hiking back pack for their birthdays so today we got to try it out for the first time.  I think Braedon really enjoyed riding on our backs and we all had a lot of fun spending some time outside.

Braedon enjoying the packaging more than the present.

Did I mention it was wet?

I had Braedon on my back for about 15 minutes or so before I decided it was time to give him back to Derek.  That kid is heavy and I felt like I was going to tumble backwards going up the steep stuff.

Where is summer?

Okay, updates….

First of all, can I ask where summer is and when is it going to get here?  This rainy, cool weather is starting to get to me!

I think I will have this post be mostly pictures.  Isn’t that what people care the most about anyway?

We did this for about a week:

We did get to stop and have some fun in Utah.

Then it was back to this:

After another stop in Kennewick, where I was a total slacker and didn’t take any pictures, we arrived at our summer destination.

Braedon made himself right at home.

Did I mention he has made three new furry friends?

Picture 156 Picture 159I would never tell him this but I think he is being used.

Dog food provides hours of entertainment.

He even left grandpa a little present.
