Milestones

Yesterday was a big day in the Peterson household.  Adilyn smiled for the first time!  She has become so much more alert in the last week and I just knew that a smile was coming.  I love baby smiles!

So far this is the only picture I have been able to get of her smiling.  I know, it’s not a very good one but she tends to be camera shy.  My goal is to have cute Adi smiles for you in a couple of days.

Also this girl is going to have to be tough.  The reason…this guy.

This is Adi’s, “if you throw another rattle at my head again you little punk I will come after you as soon as I can crawl” look.

I took these pictures after Adi’s first smile to try and get her to smile again.  As you can see, she thinks she’s too cool to smile.  Braedon on the other hand is not.  He came and laid down next to her saying, “Mom, I can smile.”  Yes you can, Braedon!

You know what else Braedon can do?

Besides make a mess of our bathroom floor with the dog water.

He can pee in the toilet!  For months now whenever Braedon has to go to the bathroom he will tell us he needs to go hide, usually in the bathroom.  I decided it was time to get him his own toilet for the downstairs bathroom and Wednesday afternoon while we were just hanging out at home I decided to strip him and told him if he peed in the toilet he would get a cookie.  Man, what a kid will do for a cookie.  According to Braedon, he went pee in the toilet 97 times that day.  But if you ask Derek or myself, that count would actually be zero.  Nice try, dude.  However, yesterday afternoon was the B man’s big day.  He peed in the toilet not only once, but three times…in about a 15 minute period which resulted in a crazy toddler running around naked with a sugar high.  We have now switched to chocolate chips, unless he poops, then he can have a cookie.

Also, it is pretty comical having a naked toddler running around.  He acts completely oblivious that he is even naked and still resumes the same activities such as riding his bike and crawling on our wood deck.  All I can say is ouch.  Derek drew the line when Braedon wanted to be spun upside down.

No nap

Ever since Adilyn was born Braedon has really starting fighting his naps.  Even though some days he may not sleep at all we have established a rule that he can not come out of his room until we come get him.  On most days we hear all kinds of banging and thumping noises coming from upstairs.  I really have no idea what he is doing and don’t really care as long as he isn’t getting hurt or breaking anything, which he hasn’t.  Both his and Adi’s rooms are connected through their shared bathroom, so I know that he will sneak through the bathroom into her room at times only to be busted by the baby monitor.

Yesterday afternoon after about an hour of noisemaking upstairs, Derek went up to check on him and found this.

Lying at the foot of his bed with his pants off and Lightening McQueen in his hand, completely passed out.  Like I said, I have no idea what he does up there, but at least he is finally asleep!

Say cheese

Tonight after dinner we decided to take some pictures.  I have been wanting to get some more pictures of Braedon and Adilyn together, as well as our whole family together.  Trying to take pictures with a two year old and a 6 week old is challenging, but entertaining at the same time!

Adi was inching over towards Braedon looking for 12th meal.  Braedon wasn’t too amused.

Flash back….

to last summer.  I found this video of Braedon earlier this week and was cracking up!  I never posted it on the blog so I thought I should before I forgot about it again.  I can’t believe how much a baby can grow in a year!

Today while I ran…

Derek worked….

Adi slept….

and Braedon, well Braedon polished off a box of Oreos….all gone before 8:30 am.

I honestly don’t know how many were left in the box.  I bought those a few months ago when I had a craving for Oreos while I was grocery shopping, but then never ate any.  I asked Derek and he said that he thought it was at least half empty.  I thought, oh so Braedon maybe ONLY ate half a box of Oreos?  Nice.

This incident reminded me of this one.

Busted!  The only thing that busted him this time was Oreo all over his face and an empty cookie box that he put back in the cupboard.  Like I wouldn’t notice.

Tummy time fail

IMG_8847

Adilyn had just finished eating and was supposed to be awake.

IMG_8849

When this girl wants to sleep, there is nothing you can do to wake her up.

This happens quite often.

Snooze away Adi, snooze away.

Spreading my wings

My mom and sister left yesterday after helping out here for this past month.  Braedon and I were sad to see them leave!  My mom was so helpful and I’m going to miss having adult company and an extra set of hands during the day.

Braedon and my mom are buds, although I think her having an iPad makes her more of a bud in Baeo’s eyes.  Just call her gramma iPad.  That is practically what Braedon did the whole time she was here.  I think she felt used at times just for all the fun toddler games she has downloaded.  After they left yesterday Braedon was asking me for the iPad.  Sorry kid, you’re out of luck.

She was great to have around in the evenings to walk and hold Adi during her fussy time.

It was also nice to have her here during our fly crisis.  This picture was taken in between doctor appointments.

Braedon also had a blast with his Auntie Jenny.  They became pals and she did an awesome job playing with him and keeping him entertained, when he wasn’t asking grandma for the iPad.
So now, it is time for me to spread my wings…

Braedon, please be easy on me while I learn to juggle two kids on my own.  Hopefully I catch on fast!
