Do you really see many similarities?  I thought I did at first, but now I’m not so sure.  Anyway, I had a request to post some comparison pictures of Braedon and Adilyn and I thought that it might be fun to compare them side by side at similar ages.  I promise that Derek is the father of both of these kids!

Two months!

I can’t believe Adi is already two months old.  Time is flying by!  She had her two month check up yesterday and it went well.  Here are her stats.

11.3 pounds

23 1/4 inches tall

IMG_9181

She is smiling more each day and I love it!  She absolutely loves attention too.  I think she could listen and watch me talk to her all day if I would let her.  If I have been talking to her for awhile and then step away to go do something real quick she will make these little squeals like she is saying, “Hey, where did you go?  Come back here!  We were paying attention to me!!!”

At two months our daily schedule looks like this:

7 am:  Gets up to eat, hangs out on our bed while dad gets ready for work and I work out.

8-9:30 am:  Naps while Braedon and I get ready for the day and eat breakfast.

9:30: Eats and then we usually go to play group or do some kind of daily outing.

Noon:  Eats and hangs out in the living room while I fix Braedon some lunch.  All three of us play on the floor for awhile until nap time for both of them.

1-2:30: Nap, while Braedon naps until about 3.

2:30: Eats and hangs out with me.  This is when we usually do tummy time and have deep conversation.

3:30-5: Nap while Braedon and I play.

5: Eats and then hangs out in her bouncer while I make dinner.

6-7:30: Nap

7:30: Eats and then hangs out with dad.

8:30: Bedtime for both Adi and myself

11 pm: When Derek comes to bed he wakes both of us up for one more feeding.

Sometime between 3 and 4 am Adi wakes up to eat and then goes right back to sleep.

7 am: Up and repeat!

I feel like I finally have this whole taking care of two kids thing under control and we have been enjoying lots of play dates and other fun outings.  Although I feel that having two kids is so much crazier and by the end of the day I am spent!

Halloween 2011

This was the first year we took Braedon trick or treating and let me tell you, trick or treating with a 2 year old is pretty entertaining.
IMG_9194
We headed out early and were the first ones on the street in our neighborhood, which was nice because by the time we were done our neighborhood was filled with kids, and yes even adults…dressed up…trick or treating…really?  Anyway, back to Braedon.
IMG_9196
I followed behind cracking up because watching a little dragon run down the street and up to neighbor’s doors ringing the doorbell, then knocking two times…always two times…and then getting distracted by their porch decorations, benches, chairs…is for some reason hysterical to me.
IMG_9198
Once they opened the door he would say, “trick or treat,” not once or twice, but usually three times as he grabbed for the candy and quickly stuffed it in his bucket.  He would usually conclude the conversation with a, “Happy Halloween!” and then scurry off to the next house, running of course.
IMG_9195
Unless there were flowers to smell.  I guess that he lives by the saying "Always stop to smell the flowers."
As for Adi, well she wasn’t a fan.
IMG_9193
Maybe she was just bitter because she didn’t get any of the good stuff, or for the fact that her mom dressed her up as a lady bug.
We trick or treated for almost an hour and then headed home so Braedon could participate in handing out the candy.  We had heard from neighbors that our neighborhood gets hit hard with trick or treaters and that you will easily go through at least 500 pieces of candy.  They weren’t joking.  We were out by 7:30.
IMG_9204
Braedon was the designated candy hander outer.  This was good if you came dressed as Nemo, a Yo Gabba Gabba character, or Lightening McQueen.  They all got at least three pieces.  If you came dressed in something scary, forgetaboutit.  Braedon would call you out as scary and skip right over you.  I also couldn't guarantee a quick candy hand out. Braedon felt the need to go through the bowl either looking for his favorite candy to hand out or all the colorful ones…I couldn’t figure out what he was doing.  All I know is he was taking his sweet time in deciding what piece of candy to hand out.  I also know that the last candy to go had brown wrappers.  I also know he would sneak some candy into his own bucket on occasion.
This was probably the most fun I have had on Halloween in a long time!  Kids are awesome, especially when it comes to holidays.

How to tell it’s the end of the week

And I just don’t care.

Hey, at least it isn’t a box of cookies this time!

Pumpkin painting

Yesterday we did a fun little craft that Braedon absolutely loved!

IMG_9117

We painted pumpkins!

IMG_9119

Look at that concentration.  He picked those little pumpkins out when we went to the pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago and has been carrying them around the house ever since.  I don’t dare try to put them up and use them for decoration.

IMG_9124

Not surprisingly he used up all the paint.

IMG_9122

Adilyn supervised…

IMG_9128

Although she could have done better.  I turned my head for 10 seconds and Braedon was licking his pumpkin.

IMG_9123

Adi thinks he may not be the sharpest tool in the shed.

Another visitor!

I guess all it took for our friends and family to come visit us was to move back to the west coast.  Since we have been back we have had all kinds of visitors, both friends and family, and I have been loving it!  This last weekend my oldest, best friend came to visit with her boyfriend.  We have known each other since we were about two and her family is my family and vice versa.  Heck, I even peed on her mom’s couch.  Too much info?  Sorry.

Gina!

IMG_9090

We got to spend some time catching up, she got to meet Adi and I got to meet her boyfriend.  Not like it matters, but like I already told you Gina, I approve!  Braedon and Adi also received some nice presents from Gina and her mom Margie.  Thanks so much!

IMG_9087

Meet Auntie Jared, according to Braedon.  You see, we have had a lot of female visitors, some are real aunts and some are really close friends so I will call them aunts.  So after introducing Braedon to Jared, he later called him Auntie Jared.

Adilyn could hardly contain her excitement meeting Gina for the first time.  Thanks for stopping by, Gina!

Dragons are cute

At least this one is!

IMG_9097

This morning was trick or treating part one.  Santana Row, which is a bunch of outdoor shops and restaurants, puts on something called Mommy and Me on the Row once a month and this month was trick or treating, face painting, pumpkin decorating, and fun music.  I was able to get all three of us dressed, fed and out the door by 10 am to make the event!

IMG_9098

Before we left we practiced saying, “trick or treat,” and “thank you.”  I also explained to Braedon that when he says trick or treat he will get a piece of candy in return.  I think he liked that idea.

IMG_9100

I think he was hoping candy would just magically appear once he said the magic phrase.

IMG_9104

Okay, we practiced and now here’s the real deal.

IMG_9105

IMG_9106

First time trick or treating and it was a success!

IMG_9107

At one point he told me he had enough candy.  Is this really my child?  I had him keep truckin so he could bring in more candy for me, I mean him.

IMG_9109

Post trick or treating we stopped at Starbucks, which was right in the center of all the music and entertainment and Braedon enjoyed a granola bar, after he consumed some candy of course!
