A little catch up

Oh my.  Just like that and it's been a month and a half since I last posted.  I do have an excuse though, I promise.  I'm one month post second surgery, which was a doozy, but am finally starting to feel somewhat like my old self again.

Pre surgery, we had a very fun 4th of July with a community party, neighborhood party with a ton of awesome fireworks, and a fun trip to Grandma and Grandpa Peterson's house.  I will just leave you with some photos now!

There was a little parade followed by tons of bounce houses and other fun stuff.  The only downer was that on that very first bounce house the kids went on, Baeo decided to jump off the slide and landed on his head, which turned into a trip to the ER and a neck brace.

The day after the fourth, we drove to Kennewick to spend some time with Derek's family.  The kids had a blast, as always.

And just like that, the month of July came and went.  Here are some stats for July...

Number of hours in the OR: 8
Number of emergency room visits: 4
Number of x rays/CT scans: 3
Number of days in the hospital: 10
Number of episodes of Honey Boo Boo while in the hospital: Too many to remember and I think my IQ has dropped significantly.
Number of blood draws: 12
Number of Heparin shots in the stomach to prevent blood clots: 20
Number of catheters put in: 3
Number of ambulance rides: 1

Okay, I'm not complaining, even though it may seem like it.  All I have to say is that July was rough and I really don't want to see another hospital again....until October.

While that was going on, Derek took the kids to see Thomas the train!  Today was the first time I saw the pictures and they sure looked like they had a blast!! Okay, since I wasn't there, your guess is as good as mine as what went on, so I will make up my own story on how I think it went.

Here are the kids so excited to have their Thomas tickets!

Braedon's wondering why they didn't punch it like they did on the Polar Express.

Adi couldn't care less.

Checkin out an old train.

It's Thomas!!  Oh, my gosh it's really Thomas!!!  Oops, I think I just peed a little. (Said Braedon)

Trains!  I wonder how I can break up these tracks and make a complete mess before getting caught. (Thought Adi)

Clown are so not cool anymore.

But Thomas totally is!

Loving the train ride and the wind in my hair.

Drrr.....(okay, when I came across these photos, and there are like 8 of them, I could not stop laughing. Totally at the age where you can not get a regular smile.  Just wait until I bust these out when he's older.)

CHEEEEZZZZEEEE!!!!!!

The fun filled morning ended with some tunes:)
And...that's a wrap folks!

Camping!!!

Okay, we did it!  We had our first camping trip with both kids and spent two nights in a tent.  Everyone survived and everyone had a blast!  When we were trying to figure out what to do last weekend, I had decided to check out my all time favorite camping place, Banks Lake.  I have grown up camping there and ever since I was 4 years old, it was my favorite place to go.  The problem is, this is also everyone else's favorite place too and you usually have to book months in advanced.  It just so happens that we really lucked out and one spot was available.  I jumped right on it!

We got there at about 6 on Friday and got right to setting up camp so we could enjoy the rest of the evening.  After we set up and ate dinner, we played some horse shoes, and dug in the sand.

Braedon loved this game!  He also just loves camping in general.  I think both kids would spend every waking moment outside if they had a choice.  Our first night, a couple little kids were so excited and were pretty chatty.  One little girl was up chatting away at us from her pack n play until 11 pm.  Then she was up and singing at 5 am.  Someone who is used to getting 12-13 hours a sleep a night but only got 6 and then spent the morning playing at the park and playing on the beach will end up looking like this by noon.

She was actually calling for her bed.  Peyton was worn out after a morning of fetch in the water too:)

While Adi napped, Braedon made a new friend.  Another little boy was camping with his family a couple sites over.  Turns out he is also 4, has the same exact bike as Braedon, and the same pajamas.  Once they discovered each other, they practically played together for the rest of the trip.

The rest of us took advantage of the quiet and relaxed:)

On Sunday we got up, relaxed a bit, ate breakfast and then got things packed up.  After we were all packed we went down to the beach for another hour or so and then loaded up and headed home.  Braedon cried when it was time to leave...I consider that a camping success!  We will definitely be back to Banks Lake!

Water Fun!

This weekend was so nice and we had so much fun!  It started off Friday with a neighborhood play date at the park in the morning and playing in the dirt with Tonka trucks with neighbor friends in the afternoon.  Have I mentioned how much we love it here?  Because we do.  A lot!  So many kids and so many friendly neighbors.

Saturday morning Derek and Peyton went mountain biking with a neighbor while the kids helped me with my Cross fit workout.  After that we ran a few errands and then came back to play in the pool that one of our friends dropped off for us, followed by water balloon fun.

Adi wasn't quite sure what to do with them.  Braedon on the other hand has been asking to play with water balloons ever since he played with them down the street with some neighbor boys.

Winding up for the toss...and....SPLAT.

Adi preferred to just hold hers.

I made sure to have the camera in hand so I had an excuse not to get wet.  Anyone else was fair game, according to Baeo.  Even Peyton.

On Saturday evening we held our first monthly wine night with some friends.  It was so much fun and we can't wait until the next one:)

On Sunday we celebrated Father's Day by heading to Rattlesnake lake and hanging out for a couple hours.  After that we came home and celebrated some more by doing yard work.

This place is only a few minutes from our house and is the perfect lake for canoeing or just hanging out with a floaty.  A great place to picnic and even do some hiking.  We will definitely be back!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

First and last

First day of preschool!

Last day of preschool!

My, what a difference 9 months make!  Braedon officially has one year of school under his belt and he absolutely loves it.  The other day he told me he wanted to go to school 7 days a week.  Wouldn't it be nice if he was that enthusiastic about going to school forever?  Next year he will be going 3 days a week instead of 2, slowly transitioning him until he is going 5 days a week for kindergarten.

Now to keep him busy through the summer!  He has soccer starting in July and is also doing two summer camps through the preschool for a little variety and to keep him busy.  Hopefully that's enough!

Day Camping

We love to camp, but with little kids are always pretty hesitant to do so.  I'm just afraid it will be a total bust and we will come back home more exhausted then when we left because one of them didn't sleep the whole weekend.  Braedon has been a few times now, loves it, and always does fine.  I'm just worried about this one.
Such a sweet mess.  Actually, a lot what I picture camping to be like until she is a little bit older.  So anyway, last weekend after church we took the kids day camping.  We went to a state park where you can have a camp fire and do everything you would do overnight camping, except we went home to our comfy beds and our noise makers.

The kids had fun digging in the dirt and tromping through the trees.

We had a campfire and roasted hot dogs and marsh mellows.  I think day camping will work just fine until next year:)
