Just Braedon

This guy is just way too cute.  Although I may be a bit biased.
IMG_8578
And no, we don’t feed him straight powdered sugar for breakfast.  Although every Saturday morning Derek will make us Dutch pancakes and Braedon absolutely loves them…with snow.

Now back to the Baeo.  I just wanted to document some of things he has been saying and doing lately so that I won’t forget.
1.  He is talking up a storm and will repeat everything you say.  He is now piecing together 3 and 4 word sentences.
2.  He does an unbelievably realistic siren impression.  Whenever he sees a fire truck, ambulance, or cop car you better believe you will be hearing a siren from the backseat of the Jeep in a matter of seconds.
3.  He sometimes will call me Lacie.  Usually when he does something that requires the word, “Uh oh.”  So I will hear over and over again, “Uh oh, Lacie….uh oh, Lacie.”
4.  He still loves anything cars, trucks, trains and tractors and that will be the thing he beelines for at daycare at the gym and at church.
5.  When I pick him up from daycare or when Derek gets home from work he will come running up to us and say, “Hi, mom!  I missed you!”  or, “Hi, dad!  I missed you!”  It is way too cute and makes my heart melt.
6.  One of his favorite shows is the Wonder Pets and he will sing the theme song all the time.  After we put him to bed last night we could hear him singing it in his crib.
7.  He has mastered his jumping skill and is now getting a lot more brave.  He has scared me and Derek a number of times by wanting to jump off playground equipment and other things that are over 5 feet off the ground.  I really don’t want to deal with any broken bones, but this kid is fearless.
8.  He is getting really into coloring and loves to sit at the table and color while he eats his meals.  I think his favorite color is green.  If you saw his pictures you would think the same thing.
9.  He now says please on his own almost anytime he asks for something.  I didn’t even have to work with him on this…he just started doing it on his own.  It’s a nice surprise…my kid has manners…I’m not sure where he got them, but he has them!  (turns out that it was Derek that taught him this)
10.  He loves to go out in our garden with me and look at all our vegetables and help pick them and put them in the fridge.  Such a good little helper!
11.  He knows all the letters of the alphabet and can point them out and say them. With some letters he can say a word that starts with that letter.
12.  He tries to do ridiculously hard things like stacking certain objects on top of each other that really don’t stack well and will get extremely frustrated, which normally turns into a fit.
Those are the Braedon updates I can think of for now…

Family visit

This weekend Derek’s sister, Megan, and her family came to visit us.  They have two boys that are a little older than Braedon and a baby girl.  The boys got along quite well and it was fun watching them play.  On Saturday we took them to a fun park with a pretty cool water feature and they all had a blast.  I think Braedon loved having his cousins here to play with.  Here are some pictures from the weekend.

They loved playing in the sandbox.

IMG_8542

Braedon also couldn’t get enough of baby Nola.

IMG_8560

After having Nola here for a couple of days and seeing how Braedon was around a baby has calmed my nerves about having a baby in the house.

IMG_8563

He was gentle, offered her toys, and gave her hugs.

IMG_8568

Although, baby Nola eventually went home and Adilynn will not.

Isn’t she a cutie!?  Thanks for coming Megan and Tyson.  It was a fun weekend!

Delayed “catch”

Braedon loves to throw things and play catch.  The only thing is that when he wants to play catch, he will tell you to catch after he throws whatever it is he is playing with at you.  On occasion he catches us off guard!  He has a pretty good arm too!

Human Mr. Potato Head

We got Braedon a Mr. Potato Head a few weeks back and then he got a second one along with even more accessories from Grandma Peterson not too long ago.  You would think he would love playing around with the potato heads giving them funny faces and what not.  Nope, he loves using me as his Mr. Potato head.

IMG_8530

He is always coming up to me and shoving the different kinds of lips and teeth into my mouth.

IMG_8528

Four is the record, by the way.

IMG_8529

It’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

IMG_8527

Earlier today he tried to give me eyes…

Daddy’s little helper

Derek has been working on another wood project these last few days.  Nightstands to go with our new bed frame!  On Saturday Braedon got to help with some of the hammering.
IMG_8505
He took his job very seriously and made sure to put all of his concentration into hitting those nails.
IMG_8504
He was so happy that he was able to help dad!
IMG_8507
The nightstands are almost all put together!  I will post some pictures after they are finished and then again of the final product once they have been painted.  Derek is really enjoying his new hobby!  The next project is going to be a little table and chairs for Braedon and Adi.

Did anyone notice the matching outfits of the boys?

Getting closer

Here is my 35 week belly…

IMG_8500

A lady at the gym last week asked me if I was having twins.  I said, “nope, just one.”  Her reply, “one BIG one then, huh?  Seriously?

I actually had Derek measure my stomach either last week or the week before because I hadn’t done so in months and was curious as to how I would compare to when I was this pregnant with Braedon.  Yeah, what I measured then was how big I was at delivery with Braedon.  They say the second one just looks bigger, right?  RIGHT?  I sure hope so because Braedon was only 6 pounds 14 ounces and I pushed for three and a half hours to get him out.  I can’t imagine if Adilynn is any bigger.  I’m not going to lie, I’m a little worried about my size and hers!

Other than feeling huge things are still going well.  I have been having a ton of contractions though, something that I also never had with Braedon, but I think that is pretty common for your second baby as well.  I can still go pretty much all day but by the time 5 or 6 comes around, my feet are feeling it and I’m ready to sit with them up.  I took Braedon to Happy Hollow today after the gym and as he was running around like a maniac I saw a mom breastfeeding while her little girl sat beside her and waited patiently.  That got me to thinking, what on earth am I going to do when I have to sit and breastfeed?  I really don’t think Braedon would sit for 2 minutes and if Adilynn is anything like Braedon, she will need at least 40 minutes to eat.  I’m thinking we won’t be leaving the house for the next 6 months!  For now I am focusing on enjoying the last few weeks of having it be just me and the Baeo!

Birthday weekend

As most of you already know, Derek turned 31 on Saturday.  For his birthday weekend he decided he wanted to go camping, so on Friday night we had his birthday dinner and cake at home and then on Saturday morning we took off camping.
IMG_8464
His birthday cake of choice was actually a pie.  An Almost Better than Sex Pie to be exact.  It was my first time making this pie and as you can see in the picture, it may not have turned out exactly right, but I’m not sure.  See it dripping out of the pan?  Yeah, I don’t think it is supposed to do that, but then again, maybe it is.  It really was good though!
Braedon thought it was better than sex.
IMG_8472
Now on to camping.
IMG_8473
We didn’t camp in a campground and instead found a random spot, that was all dirt.  Maybe not the best idea with a 2 year old, but he did have a blast.

Both Braedon and Peyton had so much fun just wandering around and exploring.  Braedon may have explored mostly in the dirt.  He went from this.
IMG_8481
To this….in about 30 seconds flat.
IMG_8485
He would practically lay down and swim in the stuff.
IMG_8484
When it came time to get him ready for bed I didn’t even know where to start.
IMG_8492
He also filled his pants three times in about three hours.  We are blaming the cherries in the picture below and Braedon is now banned from them.
IMG_8488
After a night of watching Braedon roll around in the dirt we got up the next morning, had breakfast and then spent a couple of hours down at the lake.
IMG_8493
The water was a little cold but Braedon had fun swimming in it.  I think Peyton had the most fun though and swam pretty much the entire time we were there.  She passed out in the jeep in about 30 seconds.  Braedon passed out in about 45 seconds.

Happy Birthday, Derek!  We love you!!!
