I LOVE Seattle!!

I just wanted to say how happy I am to be back in Seattle. I was telling Derek when we were on our way home from our honeymoon that you know you are living in a place you love when no matter where you go or how much fun you have, you are always happy to be returning home. I never felt like that when we were in Kansas. Posted is a picture of us at Alkai Beach with the whole city in the background. The camera wasn't able to capture the background at all, but it is such a great sight at night and I absolutely love it!

I Smell Spring!!!

We have had two really nice weekends in a row and I am loving this weather! Last weekend we were able to take a little walk around Greenlake. It is so pretty there and tons of people were out walking/running. I love to see so many people outside getting exercise and having fun!

This weekend Derek and I decided we wanted to go on a longer hike. On Sunday we stopped by my parents house to get the labs and took them to Wallace Falls. It is only about 20 miles from my parents house and the hike is beautiful! We hiked for about two hours and by the time we got back to the car the dogs were looking pretty tired, but they had a lot of fun.

Getting Back to Normal

As most of you know, Derek and I got married about two weeks ago and we just got back from our cruise Thursday night. Even though we had so much fun and exciting things going on these last few weeks, we are both a little relieved that we are able to get back to our normal lives.

I want to say thanks to everybody who made it to our big day and for all the wonderful gifts! We really appreciate it and are glad to have shared our special moment with you.

We had a lot of fun our honeymoon and were able to really relax and enjoy each others company. We also got a chance to play the newlywed game on the ship and are proud to say that WE WON!!

A Little Update

With only two weeks left until our wedding I have to say that things are going quite smoothly and most of the planning is done. My mom has put so much time and effort into this whole thing and has done such a wonderful job. Thanks mom; I love you!!

We moved into our new place on Tuesday and I spent all day Wednesday unpacking. The house is actually looking like a home now! For the most part, we like the place except for a few annoying things that we are finding along the way. For example, our bathroom has no drawers or shelving to store any of our bathroom stuff. The other crazy thing is that we don't have a microwave! To all of you older people you might be thinking what is the big deal with that? Well, I didn't grow up in the 60s and I have always had a microwave. That went up on our registry real fast!

Now to change the subject a little bit, Derek and I have been taking dance lessons in hopes that our dancing at the wedding won't be total chaos. For those of you who didn't already know, I am dancing impaired and don't have much rythmn. To add to it, I will be having to dance in three and a half inch heels! If I could have it my way I would wear running shoes to my wedding, but being so short I could only get my dress hemmed up so much before it would start to disturb the "decoration" or whatever you call it, on my dress. However, we have absolutely LOVED the dancing lessons and would like to continue doing them. It is a fun way to spend the evenings!

Only a week left until family starts arriving! My aunt is flying in a week from Monday and my Spokane friends are coming on Wednesday! I am so excited to see everyone!!

A New Adventure

Derek and I have tried to go cross country skiing twice before and never ended up making it because the first time we left before finding out that chains were required on the pass and we didn't have any. We ended up turning around. The second time we got out too late because we had a couple of apartments to check out and by the time we were done with that it was already 12:30. The third time was the charm. We got up this morning, got ready to go and headed for Stevens Pass. Cross country skiing is a lot of fun but will take a few times to get used to it. We found out that it is quite a good work out as well! We also found out that two and a half hours is PLENTY!!

Ice Skating

We have found an apartment! That means no more time looking and a little more time playing on the weekends, and that is exactly what we did. On Saturday we met with the lady who is going to make our cake and did a little tasting. I love cake!! We picked out the flavors, designs and all that good stuff.

After we did that we headed back down south to Mill Creek so I could see the apartment for the first time. I am very excited! Our new place is going to work for us very well. It is plenty big for the two of us and is in a great location. We will be moving next weekend. I'm excited to have our own place again, but not excited for the whole unpacking thing.

Saturday night we met up with some of Derek's friends for dinner and then went ice skating down in Seattle. As we were skating I realized that exactly one year ago Derek and I went ice skating for the first time together. Kind of funny how we have only been two times in two years and they ended up being exactly one year apart.
