I have been trying to ride my bike to work on a regular basis because it gives me time to get my workout in in without really adding much time to my day since it takes just a little longer than driving AND it is good for my health. There are days that are just great for riding and there are other days that kind of suck because of wind or rain. Today was a perfect day because it was sunny and warm...but the day took a turn for the worse when I went around a corner quite fast (30+ mph) on a crappy line.
Unfortunately there was some loose sand/small gravel that I didn't know was there and I bit it hard. It was pretty fast so I am not sure what all was included in hard hit but there was a first a hard smack (the road put the smack on me) followed by some tumbling. There were a lot of cars around and I was even offered a ride home by a really nice guy despite it being out of his way. I turned his offer down because I wanted to see how hard I could push my body after a hard wreck and I made it home (although I was tempted to catch the bus or hitchhike since I had 7 miles of riding after the wreck). All that I have to say is that thankfully I was wearing a helmet because the helmet was busted up pretty good and that could have been my head.

A painful shower, stinging antiseptic wipes (that claim to be no sting), many bandages, and a couple hydrocodone and I am in top shape. Needless to say, my bike may be stay home next week.
