Just a Little Update...

Not much has really been going on the last few weeks, but since I haven't posted anything in awhile I figured I would just give a little updating.

A couple of weekends ago we went camping with my parents at Pot Holes in Eastern Washington. It was a pretty nice weekend and we all had a lot of fun just relaxing outside. Dad rode his motorcycle over, so we took the nice, but longer way to get there going highway 2. We stopped in Leavenworth for a nice lunch outside.

Two weeks ago Derek and Chad participated in the Urban Assault bicycle race in Seattle and finished 7th overall! The race was a combination of biking, obstacles/challenges, and navigating through Seattle. They both had a really good time and I'm happy to see those two spending more time together.

For Memorial Day weekend we decided to stay home. Derek and I have decided to get into adventure racing which is a combination of trail running, mountain biking, kayaking, and navigating. There is a 5-10 hour race coming up in July so we have started to train for that. On Saturday we did a combination workout of trail running and mountain biking. After that we went to a local lake and soaked up some sun out on the beach and then later on in the evening we went to a barbecue at my aunt and uncle's house. On Sunday we drove down to Olympia to visit my brother and his family, and then on Monday we did another combo workout of running and biking and then just hung out at home for the remainder of the day. We were going to take a ferry over to San Juan Island and bike around the island, but the weather changed and it was supposed to be rainy so we decided to save that for anther weekend.

My dad and his brother (the best uncle ever!)
Overall it was a nice, relaxing weekend!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!!!

I just wanted to take some time to tell my mom thanks! She is the most wonderful person I know and I can't even put into words how much I love her and how much I appreciate everything she has done for me and my family. My mom is truly my best friend, and I absolutely love spending time with her. We not only have that mother/daughter relationship, but we have that best friends relationship as well. I feel so lucky to have that kind of bond with my mom knowing that a lot of people don't get to experience that closeness that we have. We can talk about everything and can also spend hours just hanging out, not necessarily doing anything. My relationship with her is so important to me and I hope that I can create the same relationship with my daughter one day. The kind where she feels so comfortable around me, can have just as much fun with me as she does with her friends (even through the teenage years), can come to me for anything and won't worry that I will judge or get mad, can feel like she doesn't have to hide anything, and can be completely open and honest. I love you so much mom; you really are the best!

Weekend Wrap-Up

This weekend Derek and I celebrated our one year anniversary from when we got engaged. We took a trip to the coast and spent the night in a Yurt. The weather was gorgeous on Saturday and we both had an amazing time. The weekend was wonderful!!
These pictures were taken at a beach just past Aberdeen (I always forget the name of it). As we were leaving we got the car stuck! Luckily there were some nice people around to help us out. I'll just say my clutch wasn't very happy!
We had so much fun during the couple of hours we spent here. We collected sand dollars and shells, played soccer, and even went for a little jog down the beach.
We camped at Cape Dissapointment and ended up getting there right before sunset. The beach was walking distance from our camp site, so we decided to walk down and watch the sunset.
We found many ways to entertain ourselves as the sun went down!
The View was amazing!!!

The next day we decided to drive to Long Beach, which was only a few minutes from where we camped, and hung out at the beach there for a few hours. Sunday wasn't as nice weather wise though, so we enjoyed the beach from our car.

While we were sitting in the car just hanging out we kept hearing noises on the roof of our car. I looked out the window and noticed that a bunch of sea gulls had enclosed a circle around our car and were car bombing us! It was pretty funny.

After we left Long Beach we decided to drive to Astoria and go home that way. While in Astoria we came across the school where Kindergarten Cop was filmed and the house in The Goonies!

And that pretty much wraps up our fun weekend!!

Where's Gunther!?

A couple of mornings ago I was in the bathroom getting ready and I could hear noises in the living room. I knew Gunther was doing something he wasn't supposed to be doing...AGAIN!! I came out of the bathroom, but I couldn't find him. I took anther look around and finally spotted him! Even though he was supposed to be in trouble, all I could do was laugh. He just looked so funny hanging out in the coffee table!!!

We LOVE Cake!!!

Yes we do! So much in fact that we couldn't wait for a year to bust out our cake top from the wedding! Last Monday we toasted to almost three months together and then dug in! I must say, it was really good and really worth it!!!

An Evening at the Aquarium

Saturday night Derek's company had a big evening event that included drinks, dinner, dessert, and dancing. What made this event so unique and fun was that they rented out the whole Seattle Aquarium and held the event in there. It was a very cool setting! They had tables set up throughout and we were able to walk around and enjoy all the exhibits with wine in hand. It was a lot of fun and we both really enjoyed the night!

A Beautiful Weekend...or Saturday at least!

The weather we had on Saturday was absolutely beautiful!! My mom saw where it hit 82 degrees in downtown Seattle and I believe her because Derek and I spent the afternoon at Alkai Beach, along with every other person living in Seattle, and I was able to wear a tank top and NOT be cold! I know, amazing. We had a lot of fun enjoying the sun and warm weather. We walked around a little bit, drank some bubble tea, skipped some rocks, and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the cascade mountains and the city from across the Puget Sound.

Saturday night we went to a bar in downtown Seattle for our friend Erin's 25th birthday. It was a fun party with lots of people and lots of karaoke. The crowd was very lucky to hear Derek sing "The Wheels on the Bus!" Along with the song we even got to see the arm and body motions that went along with the song. All I can say is it was pretty entertaining!
